Biblioteca Marciana r

The Marciana National Library is open to all who wish to read, study, consult, research, or simply browse its shelves.

Already "public" in the mind of Petrarch, who first conceived the bold project of an open library in the heart of the Republic of Venice, it confirms its mission as a place dedicated to reading and study in the city and to the promotion, dissemination, and knowledge of its rich manuscript and printed heritage. Just pass the Giants guarding the entrance, who may seem menacing but are unarmed, to discover a world of books and stories, a place that knows how to welcome and host, a corner of beauty that invites you to stop, think, study, research, or lose yourself among the books. Among the oldest Italian libraries, it belongs to the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.
